Lahari Shari Early Life
Lahari Shari was born and raised in Hyderabad. She completed her schooling and higher studies in the city and started modelling for brands while still young. She has kept details of her family private, and she rarely discusses her personal background in interviews.
Television Presenter
Before films, Lahari built her name as a television presenter. She hosted news programmes, political debates, celebrity talk shows and late-night shows on Telugu channels including NTV and Zee Telugu. Her confident presentation style, especially on debate shows, earned her a reputation as “a beauty with brains” in the Telugu media, and gave her a recognisable face long before her first film role.
Film Career: Arjun Reddy to Zombie Reddy
Lahari made her film debut in 2017 with Arjun Reddy, the cult romantic drama directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey. She played an innocent nurse who works with the troubled doctor, and though the role was small, her scenes became some of the most talked-about light moments in the film.
The same year she appeared in the romantic drama Malli Raava and the crime thriller Patel S.I.R. In 2018 she had roles in Trivikram’s Agnyaathavaasi, starring Pawan Kalyan, the family drama Srinivasa Kalyanam, Paper Boy and U Kathe Hero. She followed these with Thipparaa Meesam (2019), starring Sree Vishnu.
In 2021 she appeared in Prasanth Varma’s zombie comedy Zombie Reddy, one of Telugu cinema’s first zombie films, and played a news reporter in the Nithiin-starrer Maestro, the Telugu remake of Andhadhun, which released on Disney+ Hotstar. Fittingly, the reporter role drew on her own background in TV news.
Why Arjun Reddy Mattered
Arjun Reddy was made as a mid-budget film by debut director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, but it became one of the most talked-about Telugu films of the decade. Its success turned Vijay Deverakonda into a star, launched Shalini Pandey, and led to a Hindi remake, Kabir Singh (2019), starring Shahid Kapoor. For a newcomer like Lahari, even a small part in such a film brought wide recognition, and viewers still identify her as “the nurse from Arjun Reddy“. That visibility helped her land roles in larger productions such as Agnyaathavaasi and opened the door to Bigg Boss, where she was introduced to viewers by the same tag.
Lahari Shari in Bigg Boss Telugu 5
In September 2021, Lahari entered Bigg Boss Telugu 5 on Star Maa, hosted by Nagarjuna, as one of 19 housemates. Others in the house included VJ Sunny, Shanmukh Jaswanth, Siri Hanmanth, singer Sreerama Chandra and anchor Ravi.
In her first weeks, Lahari was seen as one of the season’s “watch outs”. A playful segment in which fellow contestant Maanas read her palm and she teased him about getting married turned into a comic “love track” that entertained viewers. However, she was evicted on Day 21, in the third week. On the eviction stage, she stayed calm and spoke well of the other housemates, but said that Shanmukh had been influenced by Siri when nominating her. In her exit interview on Bigg Boss Buzzz, hosted by Ariyana Glory, she was more outspoken and pushed back against some of the questions about her game. VJ Sunny went on to win the season, with Shanmukh as runner-up.

Why Lahari Shari Stands Out
Lahari is one of the few Telugu actresses who came to films from hard news and political debate shows rather than entertainment television. That background gave her a confident, articulate screen image that set her apart from other newcomers.
