Modelling and Pageants
Erica started her career as a model. She won the Bombay Times Fresh Face title and then Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face 2011, and also won the Pantaloons Femina Miss Maharashtra title. These wins led to modelling work and, soon after, film offers from South India.
South Indian and Hindi Films
Erica made her film debut in the Tamil thriller Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu (2013), playing Manjari. In 2014 she made her Kannada debut opposite Puneeth Rajkumar in Ninnindale, playing Pramila, a role that earned her a SIIMA nomination for Best Debut Actress (Kannada). The same year she appeared in the Hindi comedy Babloo Happy Hai, the Tamil film Virattu and the Telugu film Galipatam.
She followed these with the Kannada film Buguri (2015) and the Tamil thriller Vizhithiru (2017). Working in four languages within a few years gave her wide experience before her move to Hindi television.
Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi: TV Breakthrough
In 2016 Erica made her television debut in Sony TV’s Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, playing Dr. Sonakshi Bose opposite Shaheer Sheikh as Dev Dixit. The story of a young doctor and a businessman devoted to his mother was a hit, especially with younger viewers, and the “DevAkshi” pair built a large fan base online. The show returned for a second season in 2017.
The pairing won the Gold Award for Best Onscreen Jodi in 2017, and Erica won the Asian Viewers Television Award for Female Actor of the Year in 2016. She returned as Sonakshi once more in 2021 for the third season, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi: Nayi Kahaani.
Kasautii Zindagii Kay: Playing Prerna
In 2018 Ekta Kapoor cast Erica as Prerna Sharma in the StarPlus reboot of Kasautii Zindagii Kay, opposite Parth Samthaan as Anurag Basu. It was a big responsibility, because the original Prerna, played by Shweta Tiwari from 2001 to 2008, is one of the most loved characters in Indian television. Erica played the role until 2020.
The role won her several awards, including the Asiavision Award for Best Actress (Television, Hindi) in 2018, the Indian Telly Award for Best Jodi – Popular with Parth Samthaan in 2019, the Gold Award for Best Actor Female (Critics) in 2019 and a second Asian Viewers Television Award in 2019.
Music Videos and Short Films
Between TV roles, Erica has starred in several music videos, including Juda Kar Diya and Maula (2020), Akhiyan and Tumhe Pyaar Karungga (2022), and Wo Kashish and Ishq Hua (2023). In 2023 she played Moushmi in the Amazon Mini TV short film The Haunting, and in 2024 she appeared in the web series Love Adhura and the mini-series Bada Sheher Choti Family.
Hosting Emirates Draw
From 2022 Erica began co-hosting Emirates Draw EASY6, a live-streamed game show in Dubai, with Kinan Salameh. The hosting work introduced her to audiences in the Gulf and kept her on screen during her break from Indian television.
108 Base Hospital Uri: TV Comeback (2026)
After about five years away from Indian TV fiction, Erica returned with Colors’ 108 Base Hospital Uri, which premiered on 15 August 2026, Independence Day. The cast also includes Nikkhil Khurana, Ayoshi Talukdar, Hiten Tejwani and Smita Bansal. The show is produced by The Epic Company with A-Game Entertainment.
Erica told IANS that she sees Naina as a role model, saying the character “wears two uniforms in one” as both a doctor and an army officer, and that the strength of the women in the story drew her to it.
