Nikhil studied at the Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet, one of the city’s best-known schools. His classmates there included three future Telugu stars: Rana Daggubati, Ram Charan and Sharwanand. He went on to earn an engineering degree from Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology in Hyderabad.

Nikhil Siddhartha Career

Assistant director and small roles (2003–2006)

Nikhil Siddhartha entered films from behind the camera. His first screen appearance was an uncredited role as a car driver in Sambaram (2003). On Hyderabad Nawabs (2006) he worked as an assistant director and also played a small role as a college student.

Happy Days breakthrough (2007)

Nikhil’s big break came with Sekhar Kammula’s campus drama Happy Days (2007), in which he played one of four engineering-college friends. He was paid ₹25,000 for the role. Happy Days became a major hit with young audiences across Andhra Pradesh and made Nikhil a recognisable face.

Finding his footing (2008–2012)

Nikhil Siddhartha got his first solo lead in Ankit, Pallavi & Friends (2008), followed by Yuvatha (2008). Between 2010 and 2012 he worked steadily in films such as Om Shanti, Kalavar King, Aalasyam Amrutham, Veedu Theda and Disco, but none turned him into a lead star.

Swamy Ra Ra and the shift to unusual scripts (2013–2019)

The crime caper Swamy Ra Ra (2013) was a commercial success and a turning point. After it, Nikhil Siddhartha began choosing distinctive, concept-driven scripts over routine commercial films. The approach paid off with Karthikeya (2014), a mystery thriller about a medical student investigating a temple’s secrets. Made on a budget of about ₹4–6 crore, it collected over ₹20 crore.

He followed it with Surya vs Surya (2015), in which his character cannot be exposed to sunlight, Sankarabharanam (2015) and the supernatural romance Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada (2016). In Keshava (2017) he played a man with dextrocardia (a heart on the right side of the chest) seeking revenge, and won Youth Magical Star of the Year at the 49th Cinegoers Awards. Kirrak Party (2018), a remake of the Kannada hit Kirik Party, underperformed, but the journalism thriller Arjun Suravaram (2019) did well.

Karthikeya 2 and pan-India fame (2022)

Nikhil Siddhartha’s career peaked with Karthikeya 2 (2022), the sequel to his 2014 thriller. The mythological adventure, built around Lord Krishna, became a surprise pan-India hit, entering the ₹100 crore club and drawing strong audiences in the Hindi-speaking market. According to reports cited on Wikipedia, the film also brought him offers from Bollywood. The same year he starred in the romantic drama 18 Pages.

Why the Karthikeya films matter to his career

The Karthikeya films are the clearest example of how Nikhil Siddhartha built his career. Both are mid-budget mystery thrillers that mix investigation with Indian mythology and temple lore, rather than relying on star-driven action. The first film proved there was a Telugu audience for this kind of story; the second showed it could travel across languages without a big-star cast. That success moved Nikhil from a dependable mid-range Telugu hero to an actor whose films are planned for pan-India release, which is why his later projects, from Spy to Swayambhu, were mounted on a much bigger scale. It also gave him a franchise identity that few Telugu actors of his generation have, and audiences now associate his name with mythology-driven thrillers.

Spy and recent films (2023–2024)

Building on that national reach, Nikhil released the pan-India action film Spy (2023), where he also served as a producer. In 2024 he appeared as Rishi in the thriller Appudo Ippudo Eppudo.

Swayambhu and upcoming projects

Swayambhu is Nikhil Siddhartha’s most ambitious film so far: a large-scale historical action epic in which he plays a warrior. It co-stars Nabha Natesh, with music by Ravi Basrur and cinematography by Senthil. The film has been delayed several times because of extensive visual effects work. As of September 2026 it was in its last stage of post-production, with the team reportedly aiming for a third-week-of-October release.

He is also part of The India House, the debut production of his former schoolmate Ram Charan.
